It always nice to see the exterior trim installed. After plating and polishing, the dash, bumper guard and side trim have inserts to be painted black. That's a bit tedious to mask 'MERCURY' but the end results are certainly worth it. Check out the 54 Packard hubcaps for some more tedious masking.

Here the dash board is installed and you can see the stereo on the right in the glove box. There are many more items behind this dash than in 1950. We are consciencious to keep things accessible for future service needs. The owner didn't want to alter the stock appearance of the dash very much so some customizing was done. The new knobs and controls had to be altered of have spacers machined to fit into the curved dash trim, the A/C is to be vented through the old original speaker hole rather than cut vents into the dash. The stereo is completely hidden and operates remotely with the glove box door closed. The Dakota Digital dash has calibration switches that they made very inconvenient to access. We placed seperate switches otherwise the entire instrument cluster and housing would have to be removed just to calibrate the speedometer. We retained the operation of the fresh air vents using the stock levers in the dash. Custom covers were made to fit over the ugly part of the vents on the inner fenders.
