This 1950 Mercury was purchased at auction during Hot August nights and then brought to us with a list of complaints. Its new owner should have hired a professional to inspect the car prior to its purchase but often is not the case. The builder had installed a poor performing Chevrolet 305 engine with Metric transmission and covered the rusty car with bondo and paint for quick sale. We also discovered he had recovered the nasty old seats and we even found animal skeletons inside! The owner was disappointed to say the least but wanted a Custom Mercury so it was decided that Customs & Classics would completely redo the car. We performed a rotisserie restoration of the Body and introduced custom features such as noseing and radising the hood, decking the trunk lid and shaving the door handles and we installed a Chevrolet Vortec 300 H.P crate engine backed with a performance 400 Transmission. We included Boyd’s ‘flattop’ aluminum wheels and wide whitewalls for a retro look and stitched the interior in leather.
